ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Steve

WHERE I COME FROM

I’ve been a lifelong resident of McHenry County, growing up in McHenry. I married my high school sweetheart, Nicole, and we've celebrated 27 wonderful years together. When we had our first child, we realized we needed more space to grow our family.

At first, when our realtor suggested we look in Hebron, we had no idea where it was. We were told it was a small village near the Wisconsin state line with a population of around 1,200. But when we visited, we immediately fell in love with the small-town charm. It's a place where neighbors genuinely help each other, and everyone knows your name. Now, after nearly 25 years in Hebron, we have three adult daughters and a home filled with memories.

ATHRIVING CAREER

With a deep commitment to service and a passion for improving the community, Steven Morris brings over two decades of experience in public service, organized labor, and volunteerism to the role of Village President. As a current elected precinct committeeperson in on his third term. Steve has a proven track record of listening to constituents, advocating for their needs, and building strong, collaborative relationships to create positive change.

For 21 years, I have proudly worked in unionized labor with The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). I learned the power of collective action, the importance of fair representation, and how to work toward solutions that benefit workers and their communities. This experience has shaped my leadership style and reinforced my belief in the value of hard work, respect, and integrity.

Through my work in the union, I have been afforded the opportunity to be involved with Habitat for Humanity, helping to build homes and hope for families in need. This hands-on work has given me a clear understanding of the importance of stable housing, community development, and collaboration with local organizations to create lasting solutions.

Furthermore, my union recognized my dedication and leadership by selecting me to engage directly with lawmakers. I’ve had the opportunity to meet with and speak to members of Illinois state legislators (Speaker of the House, Emanuel Chris Welch pictured), advocating policies that protect working families and promote the well-being of all residents. These experiences have provided me with a broader perspective on how local leadership connects with state and national issues, and how important it is to ensure that our voices are heard at every level of government.

As your Village President, I will continue to build on these experiences to foster a thriving, inclusive community where everyone has a chance to succeed. My dedication to service, experience in union leadership, and history of grassroots advocacy will guide my efforts to make our village a place where residents feel heard, valued, and supported.
